Rule 1.206 Injury or death of a minor

If a child is hurt or dies because of someone else's actions, the child's parent or parents can file a lawsuit. This lawsuit can cover the money the parents had to spend because of the injury, like medical bills. It can also cover the loss of the child's help around the house, and the loss of the child's companionship and emotional closeness.

This means parents don't just have to rely on the child's own claim to get compensated. They have their own right to sue for what they personally lost, both financially and emotionally, when their child gets hurt or passes away due to someone else's fault.
