Rule 1.225 Majority of minor

If you're involved in a lawsuit as a minor and you turn 18 (or reach the legal adult age) while the case is still going on, you don't need to be replaced by a new party or have someone step in for you. You simply continue on as a party in the case, now representing yourself as an adult.

Before you turned 18, you likely had a parent, guardian, or someone else (like a guardian ad litem) handling the legal parts of the case on your behalf. Once you reach adulthood, that arrangement ends automatically for this purpose, and you take over your own role in the lawsuit. The case keeps moving forward with you as the party, just now in your own right instead of through someone else.

This rule basically prevents unnecessary paperwork or confusion when a young person ages into adulthood during ongoing litigation. It keeps the case simple by letting the same person stay involved, just with full legal responsibility once they become an adult.
