Here's a plain English summary of this rule:
When a judge grants a change of venue (moving a case to a different court location), the judge's order must spell out who pays the costs of making that change. The person who asked for the change, called the movant, has to pay these costs before the case can actually move to the new location.
There's an important deadline here. The movant has only ten days from the date of the order to pay these costs. If the payment isn't made within that ten day window, the change of venue is automatically canceled, even though the judge already approved it.
This rule doesn't apply in every situation. If the change of venue falls under rule 1.801(4) or 1.801(5), these cost and payment requirements don't apply. But in most other cases, anyone who wants to move their case to a different location needs to be ready to pay the associated costs quickly, or they'll lose the opportunity to transfer the case.
