Rule 1.929 Court open for verdict

Once a case goes to the jury, the court has to stay available the whole time the jury is deliberating. The judge can pause or wrap up other cases while waiting, but the courtroom must remain open for anything related to the case the jury is working on.

This means if the jury has a question, reaches a verdict, or needs to be discharged, the court has to be ready to handle it. Basically, the court can't shut down or move on to unrelated matters in a way that would keep it from responding if the jury needs something before they finish their work.
