Rule 1.930 Food and lodging

When a jury has to stay together during a trial or while deciding a case, the court can arrange for their meals and a place to stay. The state pays for this, not the jurors themselves.

This usually happens when a trial runs long or when jury members need to be kept separate from outside influences while they think through their decision. The rule makes sure jurors are not stuck paying out of pocket for food or a hotel just because they were asked to serve.
