Rule 16.504 Bulk distribution

If someone wants copies of public electronic court records from many cases at once (not just one single case), the Iowa Judicial Branch can provide them. But there are some conditions that have to be met first.

The court system will only fill these large, multi-case requests if doing so won't slow down or disrupt the normal operation of its electronic filing system, called EDMS. This system needs to keep working smoothly for everyone who uses it, including other people filing or looking up cases.

Any bulk request also has to follow rules set by the state court administrator. This means the court administrator can set specific guidelines or give approval before these larger requests are handled. In short, you can ask for records from multiple cases, but the court has to make sure it can do this without causing problems for the system everyone relies on.
