Rule 36.3 Report of filing

When someone files a complaint against a lawyer, the clerk for the grievance commission has to tell the commission's chairperson about it. This keeps the person in charge of the commission informed about every new complaint that comes in.

Once the chairperson knows about the complaint, they must decide who will handle it. They do this by writing an official order that says whether the full commission will hear the case, or if a smaller group within the commission will handle it instead.

This process makes sure every complaint gets assigned to the right group of people for review. It also creates a clear record showing who is responsible for looking into each complaint from the very start.
