Iowa Forms for Self-Represented Litigants – 2026
Nine rules covering the court forms a person without a lawyer must use. Rule 17.1 is the requirement itself: a self-represented person in an action this chapter covers must use these forms, which are available on the Iowa Judicial Branch website, and an attorney may use them but need not. The rest group the forms by subject — relief from domestic abuse (17.10), elder abuse (17.20) and sexual abuse (17.30); suspension of child and medical support in CINA cases (17.50); dissolution of marriage with no minor or dependent adult children (17.100) and with dependent children (17.200); modification of child support (17.300); and custody and visitation for unmarried parents (17.400). The form documents are published as images and are not reproduced; each rule's own text is, and the forms it lists are named.
