§ 60-3326 Application of act.

This rule explains how Kansas trade secret law fits together with other laws. If someone misuses a trade secret, this law is the main legal tool for handling that problem in civil court. It replaces older laws that used to cover the same kind of situation.

But this law does not get rid of every other legal option. If two people have a contract that deals with trade secrets, that contract can still be enforced on its own terms. Other civil claims that have nothing to do with trade secret misuse are also still allowed. And criminal charges can still be filed if the situation involves criminal conduct, whether or not it relates to a trade secret.

In short, this law is meant to be the main path for civil trade secret disputes, but it does not block contract lawsuits, unrelated civil claims, or criminal cases.
