§ 22-2603 Crime committed in more than one county.

If a crime involves more than one action, and those actions happen in different counties, prosecutors don't have to pick just one specific location to file charges. They can bring the case in any county where at least one part of the crime took place.

This matters because some crimes aren't committed in a single moment or a single place. For example, someone might plan a crime in one county, then carry it out in another. Instead of arguing over which county has the "right" location, this rule lets prosecutors choose any county connected to the crime.

For someone facing charges, this means you can't get a case dismissed just by claiming the crime technically happened somewhere else. As long as part of the criminal act took place in the county where you're charged, the case can move forward there.
