§ 60-444 Testimony of jurors not limited except by this article.

Jurors can generally be asked to testify about what happened during a case, including things that occurred in the jury room, if those events could affect whether the verdict or indictment was valid. This rule makes clear that jurors aren't automatically protected from testifying about these things. The only exception is a specific limit found in a different rule, K.S.A. 60-441, which restricts jurors from testifying about certain mental processes or reasoning behind their verdict.

The rule also covers grand jurors. If someone testified or made statements in front of a grand jury, and those statements later become relevant in a court case, the grand juror who heard them can be called to testify about what was said. This means grand jury secrecy doesn't block a grand juror from sharing that testimony later if the law requires it for another case.

In short, this rule keeps the door open for juror testimony in most situations. It stops people from claiming jurors are off limits as witnesses, except for the narrow protections spelled out elsewhere in the law.
