If you're serving on a jury for a trial, you can't also be a witness in that same trial. Once you've been sworn in as a juror, you're there to listen to evidence and decide the case, not to give testimony yourself.

This rule keeps the roles separate. A juror is supposed to judge the facts based on what witnesses say, so it wouldn't make sense for that same person to also be one of the people providing the facts. Keeping these jobs apart helps make sure the trial stays fair and the jury can look at the evidence with a clear head.
