Every trial court clerk in Kentucky has to keep certain records on file, beyond just the basic case files. What records they need to keep is spelled out in a manual called the Circuit Clerks Manual, which comes from the Administrative Office of the Courts.

In practice, this means clerks follow a standard set of instructions that apply across the state. This keeps recordkeeping consistent from one courthouse to another, so people can expect the same types of documents and information to be tracked no matter which county they're dealing with.
