92 Motions; enlargement of time; summary judgment

If your case is on the economical litigation docket, most motions get handled during the court's regular motion hour. This is the set time the court sets aside each week to hear routine requests, so you'll need to plan around that schedule rather than expecting a special hearing time.

If you need more time for something in your case, or you want to push back a deadline, you have to explain why in your motion. The court will only say yes if you have a good reason. You also can't just work it out with the other side and submit an agreed order asking for more time. The judge wants to see the actual reason and make that decision directly.

If you want to ask the court to rule in your favor without a full trial (this is called a motion for summary judgment), you need to file that motion at least ten days before the pretrial conference. Waiting too long could mean the court won't consider it, so it helps to plan ahead if you think your case might be resolved this way.
