Art. 108 Conjunctive, disjunctive, or both

This rule explains how to read the words "and" and "or" in the Children's Code. When a rule uses the word "and," it means all the listed items or conditions apply together. When a rule uses the word "or," it means only one of the listed items or conditions needs to apply, not all of them.

Sometimes a rule will use "or" but then add the phrase "or both" at the end. When this happens, it means either option can apply by itself, or both options can apply at the same time. This gives more flexibility than a plain "or" statement alone.

Basically, this rule helps courts and people reading the Children's Code understand exactly what a law requires. Getting these small words right can change the meaning of a rule quite a bit, so this section makes sure everyone interprets them the same way.
