Art. 1183 Reports of annulments of adoption decrees

When a court cancels or "undoes" an adoption, the clerk of court has to fill out an official form reporting it. This form must be completed within ten days after the cancellation becomes final.

The clerk doesn't send these forms out one at a time. Instead, all forms completed during a calendar month get sent together to the state registrar of vital records. This batch has to go out by the 15th day of the following month.

For someone going through this process, this rule mainly matters because it explains how the state keeps its records updated. Once your adoption annulment is final, you can expect the paperwork to reach the state registrar within a few weeks, even though there's a short built-in delay before it's officially reported.
