Art. 1184 Admission to hearings

Adoption cases in Louisiana are handled privately in the judge's chambers, not in an open courtroom. Only the people directly involved in the case can attend. This includes the parties, their lawyers, and court staff who need to be there.

If someone wants another person to be allowed in, like a family member or friend, they can ask the judge. The judge gets to decide whether to allow it. This keeps adoption hearings private, but gives some flexibility if there's a good reason for someone else to be there.
