Art. 1261 Suspensive nature

Here's what this means: if someone appeals a judgment covered under this section, the judgment gets put on hold while the appeal is being decided. This is called a "suspensive appeal." It means the original decision doesn't take effect right away and has to wait until the appeal is finished.

Normally, when someone wants this kind of appeal, they have to pay money upfront (called a bond) to guarantee they're not just stalling. This rule removes that requirement. People don't have to post a bond to get this type of appeal, which makes it easier and cheaper to appeal a decision.

For everything else, the appeal follows the standard rules found in Chapter 9 of Title III. So while the bond requirement and automatic hold on the judgment are special to this type of case, the rest of the appeal process works the same way as other appeals.
