Art. 1269.7 Agreements confected after final decree

After the adoption is finalized, the adoptive parent can still make a deal with certain relatives or the former foster parent about staying in touch with the child. This might include things like visits, phone calls, letters, or other forms of contact. The law allows this kind of agreement to be made even after the adoption is already complete.

But this agreement only counts if it's done the right way. The adoptive parent and the other person must file the agreement with the court, and a judge has to approve it. If they skip this step, the agreement won't hold up or be something a court will enforce later. So if you want a contact agreement like this to actually mean something, you need to get it in writing and get the court's sign-off.
