Art. 1283.8 Interlocutory decree

If a court finds it makes sense based on the factors it already reviewed, it can issue a temporary order during or after the hearing. This is called an interlocutory decree. It's not a final decision, but a step the court can take while the case moves forward.

The court doesn't have to grant this temporary order. It can choose not to, depending on the situation. Whatever the court decides, the child's best interest has to be the main thing driving that choice.

In short, this rule gives the judge some flexibility to act early if needed, but always with the child's wellbeing as the top priority.
