Art. 1305.3 Employer's compliance with two or more income-withholding orders

If an employee owes child support to more than one family and the employer gets multiple income-withholding orders for that same person, the employer doesn't have to figure out how to sort them all out on their own. Instead, the employer just needs to follow the child support withholding laws of the state where the employee actually works.

This means the employer looks at that state's rules to decide which order gets paid first and how to split the money between the different families owed support. As long as the employer follows those state rules correctly, they've done what the law requires, even if there are several withholding orders coming from different places or courts.

This rule mainly protects employers. It gives them a clear, single set of rules to follow when they're dealing with multiple child support orders for the same worker, instead of having to guess or try to satisfy every order separately. It also helps make sure child support payments still get processed correctly when a parent owes support in more than one case.
