Art. 1305.4 Immunity from civil liability

If your employer follows an out-of-state order to take child support payments out of your paycheck, they can't be sued for doing it. As long as the employer is following the rules correctly for that type of order, they are protected from legal claims by either the parent or any agency involved in the case.

This rule exists so employers aren't caught in the middle when they get a child support order from a different state. Without this protection, an employer might worry about getting sued no matter what they do, whether they withhold the money or not. This rule gives employers legal cover so they can just follow the order without fear of being blamed later.
