Art. 1560 Wrongful refusal to consent to medical care and treatment of a child

If a parent or guardian will not let a child get medical care that the child needs, the doctor does not have to just accept that refusal. The doctor can step in and report the situation to the proper authorities as a case of a child in need of care.

This means the doctor treats the refusal as a sign that the child may not be getting proper care at home. Reporting the case starts the legal process under Title VI, which deals with children who need protection or help because their parents are not meeting their basic needs.
