Art. 1622 Appointment of compact administrator

This rule allowed the governor to appoint someone called a "compact administrator." This person's job was to handle Louisiana's role in an agreement between states about placing children across state lines, known as the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children.

The rule is no longer in effect. Louisiana lawmakers repealed it in 2010. The repeal takes effect once 35 states adopt a newer version of the interstate compact. This was part of updating how states work together when a child from one state needs to be placed with a family or facility in another state, such as for foster care or adoption.

For people involved in child placement cases, this means the old system with a single appointed administrator is being phased out. A newer process takes its place once enough states sign on to the updated agreement.
