Art. 784 Duration of disposition

When a court makes a decision about what happens to a child in these cases, that decision does not last forever. It stops being in effect once the child turns 18 years old.

The decision can also end sooner than that. This can happen if the original order already set an earlier end date, if a judge later changes the order, or if a judge cancels it completely.

In short, once a young person becomes an adult at 18, the court's disposition order is no longer active, no matter what it originally said.
