Art. 785 Applicability

If a child in a "family in need of services" case gets taken out of their caretaker's home and placed with a child care agency, different rules kick in to handle what happens next. Specifically, the rules found in Chapters 15 and 16 of Title VI take over. These chapters control how the court checks in on the child's case going forward.

This review process continues until the child reaches what the law calls a permanent placement. That means the reviews do not stop just because the child was placed somewhere. The court keeps watching the case, checking on the child's living situation, and making sure things are moving toward a stable, lasting home. Once the child reaches that permanent placement, this particular review process ends.
