Art. 1231 Types of service; time of making

When someone needs to be officially notified about a court case, this can happen in one of two ways. The first is personal service, which means giving the papers directly to the person. The second is domiciliary service, which means leaving the papers at the person's home with someone else who lives there. Both methods count equally under the law, unless a specific law says otherwise.

There are no time restrictions on when this notice can be delivered. Papers can be served at any hour, day or night. This includes weekends and holidays. So someone could be served with court papers on a Sunday morning or late at night, and it would still be valid.
