Art. 1264 Unincorporated association

If you need to serve legal papers on an unincorporated association (like a club, group, or organization that isn't a corporation), you first try to give the papers directly to the person the association has appointed to accept them. Most associations name someone for this job, often at their main office or wherever they normally do business.

If that appointed person isn't around, you can give the papers to a manager or someone who runs the organization's daily business, at the place where that business happens. The key is finding someone who works there regularly and is in charge of things.

If nobody in charge is available at that location (no appointed agent and no manager can be found), you're allowed to serve any member of the association instead. This gives you a way to legally notify the group even if the usual contact people aren't there.
