Art. 1919 Judgment affecting immovable property; particular description

If a court makes a final decision that affects who owns or has rights to real estate, the judgment has to clearly describe the property involved. This means the court can't just say "the property in question" or refer to it vaguely. It needs to spell out details like the legal description, address, or boundaries so there's no confusion later about which piece of land or building the ruling applies to.

This requirement makes sense because property records need to be clear. If someone looks up the judgment years later, or tries to sell the property, or a title company checks the history, they need to be able to tell exactly what land was affected without guessing.

There's one exception. When someone dies and the court is handling their estate, judgments that simply recognize the heirs or people named in a will and give them possession of the estate don't need this detailed property description. That's because these judgments deal with transferring an entire estate to the rightful heirs, not making a specific ruling about one piece of property.
