Art. 2342 Act of sale by sheriff

After a property is sold at a sheriff's sale, the sheriff has 15 days to prepare and sign the official paperwork that transfers the property to the buyer. This paperwork must follow the standard legal format required by law.

It's important to understand that this document doesn't actually create the sale or make it valid. The sale itself already happened at the moment of the auction, when the highest bidder was declared the winner. The written act of sale simply serves as official proof that the sale took place. It's a record for later use, not the thing that legally transfers the property.
