Art. 2596 Rules of ordinary proceedings applicable; exceptions

Summary proceedings follow the same basic rules as regular civil cases. This means the standard procedures you'd expect in a typical lawsuit still apply, like how evidence is presented, how motions work, and other general court procedures.

The only exception is when a specific law says otherwise. Summary proceedings are meant to move faster than ordinary cases, so sometimes special rules override the usual process to speed things up. But unless a law specifically changes something, the regular rules of civil procedure still control how the case moves forward.
