Art. 2822 Requirements of affidavit evidence

If you need to prove certain facts about a succession case (the legal process of settling someone's estate after they die), you can use written, sworn statements instead of having witnesses testify in person. But there's a catch: you need two different people to sign these statements, and both people must actually have firsthand knowledge of the facts they're swearing to. You can't just have one person vouch for everything.

Once these statements are signed and sworn, they need to be filed with the court as part of the official succession record. This means they become part of the permanent paperwork the court uses to make decisions about the estate. The point of requiring two knowledgeable witnesses is to make sure the facts being sworn to are reliable, since more than one person is confirming they're true.
