Art. 3131 Notary appointed for inventory in each parish

When someone dies and leaves property in more than one parish, the court doesn't just pick one notary to handle everything. Instead, it appoints a separate notary in each parish where the deceased owned property. That notary is then responsible for making a list of the property located in their specific parish.

This means if a person owned land or belongings spread across, say, three different parishes, three different notaries would get involved, one for each area. Each notary only handles the inventory for the property in their own parish, not the whole estate. This system helps make sure someone local and familiar with the area handles the paperwork for property in that specific location.
