Art. 3508 Amount of security for release of attached or sequestered property

If your property has been seized under a writ of attachment or sequestration, you can get it back by posting security (like a bond). This rule explains how much that security has to be worth.

The amount is based on either the value of the property or the amount of the claim against you, whichever number is smaller. Whichever one applies, you have to post security worth that amount plus an extra 25% on top.

For example, if your property is worth $10,000 but the claim against you is only $8,000, the court uses the smaller number, $8,000, and adds 25% to it. That means you would need to post security worth $10,000 to get your property released.
