Art. 3827 Inability to produce person in custody

If someone is in custody and needed for a court case, but they can't actually be brought to court, the person answering the case has to explain why in their written answer. Maybe there's a scheduling conflict, a safety issue, or some other problem that makes it impossible to transport them.

The good news is this doesn't stop the case from moving forward. The judge can still hold the hearing and treat it the same way as if the person had physically shown up. This keeps cases from getting stuck or delayed just because someone in custody couldn't be physically present.
