Art. 3995 Judgment of limited emancipation

When a judge grants limited emancipation to a minor, the court order must spell out exactly what adult rights and powers the minor is getting. It's not an all-or-nothing deal. The judge picks specific things the minor can now do that adults can normally do, like sign contracts or manage money, and writes those out clearly in the judgment.

At the same time, the judgment has to make clear that the minor is still a minor in every other way not listed. So if the order gives a 17-year-old the right to enter contracts, but doesn't mention anything else, that minor still counts as a minor for everything else the law covers. This keeps things clear for everyone involved, like employers, landlords, or businesses, so they know exactly what the minor can and can't do on their own.

This matters because it protects the minor from losing more rights and protections than intended. It also protects other people dealing with the minor, since they can look at the judgment and know precisely what powers were granted instead of guessing.
