Art. 3996 Appeal

If a judge issues a ruling about emancipation (granting it, changing it, or ending it), that ruling takes effect right away. This is true even if someone appeals the decision. The emancipation order does not get put on hold while the appeal is being decided.

This also means that if a minor does something while emancipated, like sign a contract or make a legal decision, that action stays valid. Even if the emancipation is later changed or taken away on appeal, it does not undo or cancel out what the minor already did while they were emancipated.

In simple terms, this rule protects people who deal with an emancipated minor. They can trust that the minor's actions are legally binding at the time they happen, without worrying that a future court decision will erase them.
