Art. 4201 Appointment; oath

When a court appoints someone to be a tutor (the person who takes care of a minor and manages their property), it must also appoint a second person called an undertutor. Think of the undertutor as a backup or watchdog who helps look out for the minor's best interests alongside the tutor.

Before the undertutor can start doing this job, they have to take an oath. This means they must formally promise to carry out their duties honestly and responsibly. Until they take this oath, they cannot officially act as undertutor.
