Art. 4235 Authority and liability of tutor after resignation or removal

Once a tutor steps down or is removed from their role, they lose all authority to act on the minor's behalf going forward. They also don't have to keep doing their old job duties, except for one specific requirement laid out in Article 4392 (which typically covers things like handing over property or records to the new tutor).

That said, stepping down or being removed doesn't erase past responsibility. If the tutor did something wrong or failed to do their job properly while they were still in charge, they can still be held responsible for it. Resigning or being removed is not a way to escape accountability for actions that already happened.

In short, this rule draws a clear line: it cuts off future authority and most future duties, but it does not wipe the slate clean for past conduct.
