Art. 4391 Duty to account; annual accounts

If you are appointed as a tutor (someone who manages money or property for a minor), you have to file a financial report every year. This report shows the court what happened with the money or property you're in charge of during that year.

The clock starts on the day you were officially appointed, and you need to file a new report on that same date each year going forward. The court can also ask you to file a report at other times if it wants to check on things, or if someone else with an interest in the case asks the court to require it.

This rule exists to keep tutors accountable. Since tutors handle money or property that belongs to a minor, courts want regular updates to make sure everything is being managed properly and nothing is being mishandled or misused.
