Art. 4609 Homologation of partition

When a notary finishes dividing up property between the parties (called a partition), they need to file the official paperwork with the court that ordered the division. This paperwork shows exactly how the property was split up.

After that's filed, any of the parties involved can ask the court to bring everyone together for a hearing. At this hearing, the parties can explain why the court should approve the partition (this is called "homologation") or why the court should reject it instead. This gives everyone a chance to raise concerns before the division of property becomes final.

Basically, this rule sets up a check to make sure the property split is fair and done correctly before the court signs off on it for good.
