Art. 461 Cumulation of actions defined

When someone files a lawsuit, they can sometimes combine more than one legal claim into a single case instead of filing separate lawsuits. This is called cumulation of actions. It just means putting multiple claims together in one court filing.

This can happen in different ways. One person suing one other person can combine several claims against them. Or the case can involve several people suing, several people being sued, or both, as long as the claims are joined together in that same lawsuit. The point is to let related claims move forward together instead of forcing people to file separate cases for each one.
