Art. 5057 Headings, source notes, cross references

This rule explains that the titles given to each article, along with the notes and references listed underneath them, are just there to help you find and organize information. They are not actual law.

In other words, when you read the Code, do not treat the heading of an article as if it changes the meaning of the law itself. The real legal rule comes from the text of the article, not from its title or any notes attached to it. These extra labels are simply tools to make the Code easier to navigate.
