Art. 689 Unincorporated association

An unincorporated association, like a club or community group that hasn't formally incorporated, can still file a lawsuit to protect its rights. It doesn't need to be a corporation to go to court and defend its interests.

When this happens, the group can't just show up on its own. Someone has to represent it in court, usually the group's president or another officer who has the authority to act on its behalf. This person speaks and acts for the group during the legal process.

This rule matters because it means informal groups aren't left without options if their rights are violated. As long as they have a proper representative, like a president or authorized leader, they can take legal action just like a formal business or organization would.
