Art. 807 Transfer of interest

If someone involved in a lawsuit sells, gives away, or otherwise transfers their interest in the property or issue being fought over, the case doesn't automatically stop or change. The lawsuit keeps going with the same people involved, just as if nothing happened.

However, the court has the power to step in and change this. A judge can decide to bring the new owner (the person who received the interest) into the case. The court can either swap out the original party completely and replace them with the new owner, or add the new owner to the case alongside the original party.

This rule exists so that lawsuits can keep moving forward smoothly, even if someone decides to transfer their rights or property while the case is still active. It also gives courts flexibility to include the right people in the case when it makes sense to do so.
