Art. 366 Custody pendente lite

When someone files a writ (a legal request asking the court to review why a person is being held), the court doesn't have to wait until it makes a final decision to deal with the person's custody situation. The judge can issue a special order right away, as soon as the writ is served, that spells out what happens to that person while the case is being decided.

This gives the court flexibility. It can set specific terms for where the person stays, how they're supervised, or under what conditions they're held during this waiting period. These terms stay in effect until the court makes its final ruling on the writ.

In simple terms, this rule lets a judge manage a person's custody status while a legal challenge to their detention is still being worked out, instead of leaving things undecided until the very end.
