Rule 17.1 Matters Considered on Appeal

The court will only consider two types of problems. Second, it will look at mistakes that are obvious just from reading the court papers and case history, without needing to examine any evidence.

This means you need to be careful and thorough when you file your assignment of errors. If you don't list a specific mistake there, and it's not something obvious just from the paperwork, the appeals court likely won't consider it.
