Rule 17.0 Transcript of Proceedings

When you appeal a case from a court of limited jurisdiction (like a city or parish court) to district court, you need to give the district court a written transcript of what happened in the original proceedings. A tape recording of the hearing is not enough on its own.

This means someone has to convert the audio into a written document before the district court can review your appeal. Courts need the transcript in this written form so judges can read through the record carefully and make decisions based on what actually was said, rather than having to listen to recordings.

If you're planning to appeal, you'll need to arrange for this transcript to be prepared and submitted along with your other appeal documents.
