Rule 35.0 Scheduling

If you file paperwork in a family court case, you may need to attend a meeting called a hearing officer conference. This applies in courts that use hearing officers to help handle family law cases. Unless the court specifically says you don't have to attend, both parties are required to show up.

Before the meeting, each side has to share certain documents with the hearing officer and with the other party. These requirements are spelled out in something called the Hearing Officer Conference and Information Order, which acts like a checklist for what you need to turn in and when. Both parties will get proper notice telling them about this meeting and what the order requires.

The court will try to set up this conference quickly after the paperwork is filed. Both sides must follow the instructions in the Hearing Officer Conference and Information Order, including deadlines and document requirements. Missing these steps could cause delays in your case, so it helps to pay close attention to any notices you receive.
