Rule 7.0 Record Management

Clerks of court have to keep track of court records the right way. This means filing and organizing documents properly so people can find them when needed. It also means getting rid of old records at the right time, following the laws that say how long records must be kept.

This rule puts the responsibility on the clerk's office to handle paperwork correctly from start to finish. If you need to find an old court record, this is the rule that makes sure it was kept in the first place. It also means records aren't kept forever. Once the legal time limit passes, the clerk can destroy them according to the law.
